Though not a native of Colorado, I have enjoyed living in the DTC area of south Denver for over 50 years! My husband Jamie and I have a growing family. We have 3 adult children, their spouses and 7 grandchildren. Two of our grands grands are local and the other five live in Waco Texas. Our youngest son recently moved to San Diego with his partner so we have another awesome place to visit! We are passionate about experiencing life with each family and are thankful for any chance to be together. One of our favorite things is hosting dinners at home with our family or friends. Lingering around the table with good conversation, food and drink is our happy place.
We recently added to the family with a chocolate lab puppy named Ruethie. We enjoy long walks together in the Cherry Creek State Park, the mountains and on the beach. When we are not in Colorado hiking mountain trails, biking and and skiing in Winter Park, we take our adventures to the beach in Manzanillo, Mexico.
My spiritual journey was launched as a junior in high school through the ministry of Young Life. After college I volunteered as a Young Life leader, went on staff in the area and later was on the SE Denver Young Life Committee. After homeschooling our three kids for four years, I had the joy of teaching Spanish at Cherry Creek High School for seven years. Now as a “seasoned adult,” my time in addition to being focused on family, is offering Soul Care through Spiritual Direction and Enneagram Coaching. I am involved in the Spiritual formation team of Denver Community Church, and with a very special ministry of “place” called the Downing House.
My husband and I also mentor and coach parents through the non-profit organization Embracing the Journey. Our role is to walk alongside Christian parents who desire to love their LGBTQ+ children in more meaningful ways. Through offering a time of community in a safe online group setting, we have experienced the honor of partnering with parents as they and their families grow in Christ.
